“Can I stay there?” and “Can I register that address?” are different questions in Berlin.

Ask for the landlord confirmation

Address registration normally requires a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, a confirmation from the person providing the accommodation. Before paying for temporary housing, ask plainly whether the provider can issue it and from which move-in date. Keep the answer in writing.

Why the answer affects other tasks

Registration can connect to the arrival of a tax identification number and may influence what a bank or another provider asks to see. Your employer can explain its payroll deadline, but it cannot turn non-registrable accommodation into a registered address.

Keep alternatives separate

Do not use an address without permission and do not assume a hotel booking includes registration. If the first stay cannot support Anmeldung, record that fact and plan which essential tasks can proceed before a longer-term address is available.
